After concerted efforts on its part, Greece undertook to host the 2004 Olympic Games. For one whole month in the summer of 2004 Athens became the centre of the world. The dream had come true: the Olympic Games were a total success and Greece benefited from the advancement and development the Games offer. Infrastructure and transport projects, but above all state-of-the-art Olympic venues, are the key legacy for each host country and the main lever in ensuring its social and economic development and growth.

The Hellenic Ministry of Culture’s General Secretariat for Olympic Utilisation and the company Olympic Properties S.A. have undertaken to prepare and implement an integrated plan to support post-Olympic utilisation and management of the main sports venues.
