The General Secretariat for the Olympic Utilization (formerly the General Secretariat for the Olympic Games 2004) within the Ministry of Culture, has organised a series of events and activities, from October 2001 onwards, to promote the major events, namely the 2004 Olympic and Paralympic Games. In the period after the Olympic and Paralympic Games it continues to actively manage and support activities and initiatives, which promote and showcase the Olympic Ideals, addressing the numerous needs that have arisen after the end of the Games.
More specifically these activities included:
- Planning, supervision, monitoring and promotion of exhibitions and conferences. Support has been provided for cultural and sporting events in several regions to highlight the Olympic Games and at Olympic Venues in the post-Olympic period.
- Supervision, monitoring, coordination and printing of publications and distribution thereof to cultural agencies, public libraries, schools, educational establishments, etc.
- Participation in the Olympic Education Programme in the form of monitoring and coordinating educational courses, exhibitions and special educational publications.
- Scheduling, organising and coordinating events to provide Olympic equipment to athletic clubs and institutes.
- Production of printed and audiovisual informative material in the form of bulletins and press kits for journalists, Greeks abroad and Greek authorities abroad
- Actions and events for Greeks abroad to promote the Olympic Games in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign AffairsÂ’ General Secretariat for Greeks Abroad.
- Communication and promotional issues in the mass media abroad and info-events with foreign journalists in cooperation with the General Secretariat for Information.
